Would you like to stay at home with your kids but also earn an income? Are you looking for work-from-home business ideas that actually work? You're in luck!
I have successfully set up multiple small business ventures (from home) whilst juggling 5 children. I am going to discuss ten business ideas you can start from home. These business ideas are perfect for stay-at-home mums who want to be able to care for their children whilst earning an income. So, without further ado, let's get started!
1. Starting an Online Printable Downloads Store
One great option is to start an online store. You can create printable downloads online if you love designing spreadsheets, wall prints or any printable materials. These printables are easy to create with a simple design program such as Canva. I have made money by creating children's wall art, children's printable activity sheets, games and various business templates. You will not have the overhead costs of printing these products - your customer will download these products from your website or Etsy store and print themselves.
Customise your printable designs with colours and fonts that reflect your brand. Then you can market the products to your website or Etsy customers. It's great to reach customers worldwide and make money from home! Once you've created a digital download you'll make passive income whilst you sleep - that's the dream!
You can use sites such as Creative Market to purchase digital artwork to use in your designs.
2. Freelance Content Writing

What To Prepare Before Starting Your Home Business
Before you start your home business, there are several things to consider. First, you need to decide on the type of business you want to start and ensure that it's something you're passionate about. It would help if you also made sure that there is a market for your products or services.
You'll need to develop a business plan and determine how much capital you need to start. If you need a business plan template you can get them here and save yourself time. If possible, find financing to cover start-up costs or look for ways to generate income from day one. You'll also need to find a space in your home that you can use as an office and properly equip it with supplies and furniture.
You can also look into any tax implications for your business, such as registering with the government - For more info on what is legally required visit this guide from HMRC
Finally, you should set up a payment system for your business and create an online presence. I have always found Natwest to be good for business banking. You can also set up a business PayPal Account to take online payments.
If you need a bookkeeping spreadsheet I use this one I input all my business and personal expenses, track profit, tax etc. If you have a business bank account they may have their own Free software - I use Natwest Freeagent software. Read more about the free software here
